Bassists and Drummers!
I’ve got 5 style file tracks online now for you to listen to and if you like, play along with on.
The tracks cover a broad range of styles:
01. Ska
02. Brit Funk
03. Hip Hop
04. Jazz Fusion
05 Electronica
06. Blues
Drummers!
Tracks 2 – 5 are available with drumless mixes (track 1 will be… soon!) So if you are of a skin-bashing persuasion and feel like laying down some grooves with me, getdownloading! I’ll be getting some more lesson material up to accompany them where drummers like Darren Ashford, Geoff Dunn and James Hester talk a little about the parts they played and what to watch out for when you approach these tracks yourself.

January’s Bass Guitar Magazine Style file is online now!
It’s an uptempo fusion take on the old familiar jazz blues.
Have a listen to the track and get hold of the downloadable playalongs by clicking here.

These lessons are aimed at people who perhaps know how to play a little but don’t know any of their scales. Before you run away covering your ears, I’m not going to hammer you to play millions of scales all day long! It’s more of an introduction to each of the main scales we use, with a shape and fingering provided and then a couple of classic licks and riffs that use them.
That way, you can play through each scale, get the sound of it in your ears and jam along with the clips in the page. It might lead you to recognise where you already use these scales in your own playing and might give you some ideas for writing new riffs of your own.
